Custom Ringtone from an Mp3 file

Let’s say we have an Mp3 file and we would love to make a ringtone for our mobile phone out of it. I’ve figured out how to do this in 4 easy steps with my iMac and my Nokia 6111. What you need, even if you work with other machines/os/devices, will be:

  1. An Mp3 cutter (I’ve used Mp3 Trimmer)
  2. An Mp3 to AAC (Mp4) converter (I’ve used iTunes)
  3. Bluetooth or infrared or any other support that allows you to send to your device a file (I’ve used bluetooth)
  4. A cell phone that supports AAC format as ringtones

Actually the Mp3 cutter is optional as it is used just for reduce the file size of the final track for your device.
Once you cutted out an Mp3 file of some seconds from your original file, all you have to do is convert your mp3 file in AAC format. With iTunes just open your file, select the track, right click and click “Convert to AAC”.  Once succesfully converted your file, just send it to your mobile phone. Then go to your cell phone alerts options settings and select your file as ringtone.
